[ˌdʌɪɪˈdʒɛtɪk]
adjective
diegetic (adjective)
(of sound in a film, television programme, etc.) occurring within the context of the story and able to be heard by the characters:
"the music used is strictly diegetic"
Beyond its technical definition 'Diegetic' sound is associated with a particular type of film-making. a deceptively simple way of cutting together images and sound that prioritises human stories over the spectacular and the 'Monoform'.
The constant use of rapid editing in an endless barrage of visual and audio information in a mono-linear push, arbitrarily constructed, prevents any inclusion of the audience into the material and works in keeping viewers from sharing or engaging in the process.
